Bongekile is an Entrepreneur, Personal Business Blogger and Youth Leader. She’s the Founder of Taste of Legends, a tea lifestyle and wellness brand, dedicated to looking after the health and well-being of busy and driven individuals.
She holds a Bcom Finance Degree from the University of Johannesburg where she started her career off in the financial services sector and holds a further leadership qualification in Business and Entrepreneurship from Purdue University School of Business in the USA. Her enthusiasm for the development of her country and continent has seen her actively occupy spaces within youth development, and using social entrepreneurship to further advance young women’s economic empowerment. She has previously been afforded the opportunity to grace the cover of South Africa’s leading women’s business magazine, Destiny Magazine together with founding editor Khanyi Dhlomo for their mentorship issue and birthday edition. In 2013 she was selected as a Top 6 national finalist on SABC1’s One Day Leader programme where they would tackle various socio-economic challenges and provide sustainable solutions for different communities across South Africa. This led to her being selected as a mentor for SABC1’s Future Leaders programme, under SAB’s You Decide initiative to help sustainably curb underage drinking. In 2014 she was privileged to co-author a leadership book under SABC Education titled “One Day Leader: Reflections on South Africa”, where she contributed a chapter on Active Citizenship and Patriotism with the foreword written by President Jacob Zuma. She became a One Young World Ambassador through their global summit after being selected by the Chairperson of the NYDA as one of his 10 delegates. She is also a Play Your Part Ambassador under her country’s marketing wing, Brand South Africa which seeks to reinforce the spirit of active citizenry and fulfill the agenda of nation building. She was named South Africa’s Top 20 Under 25 by Fast Company Magazine for “uplifting women around a cup of tea. She was listed as a 2016 Influencer and Top100 Young Independent by Independent Media. She is a Recipient of the 2016 Brand SA and Owami Women Play Your Part award. She’s currently a member of President Obama’s Advisory Board for YALI Mandela Washington Fellowship and is a World Economic Forum Global Shaper.
